Health & Safety
Your child’s safety is our top priority. Here’s what you need to know to ensure a great season for everyone.
Physicals
ALL players MUST have a completed physical signed by a medical doctor before they are allowed to participate in practices or games.
First Aid & Trainers
Every team will have a basic first aid kit at all practices and games. A trainer will also be available at all home and away games to ensure prompt medical attention.
Safety in All Weather Conditions
●Heat Safety
Watch for signs of heat exhaustion and heatstroke. Ensure players are well-hydrated before, during, and after practices. Encourage wearing light-colored, breathable clothing.
●Lightning Safety
We follow the 30/30 rule: if lightning is seen and thunder is heard within 30 seconds, the field will be cleared immediately. We will not return to the field until 30 minutes after the last thunder is heard.
●Cold Weather
In cooler weather, please make sure your child wears appropriate layers. Be aware of the signs of frostbite and hypothermia, which can occur even in mild cold if a player is not properly dressed.
Managing Medical Conditions
Parents are asked to inform the coach and team manager about any pre-existing medical conditions, such as asthma, severe allergies, or diabetes. Please explain the process for ensuring a player’s emergency medication (like an inhaler or EpiPen) is available and easily accessible at practices and games.
Sportsmanship & Mental Well-being
Youth sports are about more than just physical health. We encourage a focus on effort and teamwork over winning, and we support players in handling the pressure of competition. Patience is key when recovering from an injury, both physically and mentally.
Concussion Awareness
It’s important for parents, players, and coaches to be aware of the signs of a concussion. For more information and resources on how to recognize a concussion, please visit the CDC’s Head’s Up page for youth sports.
